Releif Valve Setting?

Thanks much for all your help in the past. On my 1946 Farmall M with converted hydraulics (Dad added a distributor pump and cover plate - from a Super M or 450 I think), what maximum pressure should a releif valve be set at? I just replaced the cam gear and don't want to have to go through that again. I am having my cylindar and valve tested. I suspect the valve releif did not function which caused the gear to break. I assume the new gear is stronger and will handle more than 800 psi (for a Lift All), but what would you recommend?

Mel - The Super M live hydraulics have the relief valve set at 1,200 psi. For safety of the timing gear train I would not go any higher than this. (I"ve seen several failed SM/400 cam gears recently...including on my own SM)

Bob, thanks much. I don't have anyone to ask but you all. I found that changing the cam gear takes serious wrenching, time and expense. Don't want to risk having to do that again.
