Have a 756 gasser. While using the rear blade noticed that the blade would float down if I didn't hold the lever in the up position.
Also it would hold an implement in the up position when the tractor was shut down--but now it won't.
Any suggestions on what has gone wrong.
It has plenty of hyd. oil.

Lenray I did read your post wrong and if the lever does not stay where you put it the hitch will not stay. If the lever moves after you stop the engine the hitch will drop. So Allen and mike are right.

Thanks fellas for the info. I am going to check that today. I keep the tractor on another farm and have been gone for a day--do some driving for a local couple drive a Ford van with the seats out making deliveries.
I love driving thru Nebraska jump off that big road and drive those beautiful 2 laners into Wyoming or drop south into Kansas going into Colorado etc.

Lenray the friction disk would have nothing to do with your float down, because you said have to hold lever up, if you hold the lever up it should not go down. So you have bad link inside or bad valve, or bad seal some place. Could be out of adjustment. You also said it will not hold load with engine of, I would but load on the lift arms and remove the third link plate with engine off and see if you see oil leaking inside, let engine off for some time to let the oil frain off that should be there. Let us know what you find.

Len,

Sounds like your lever clutch needs tightening. Down at the bottom of the lever, there is a frictio clutch.

Allan
