Suspect main seal failure on my IH-300 block mounted hydraulic pump and IH dealer doesn't recognize my pump ID #s. They are 05-10135 and 8A15N5 and P1. Apparently it's either a PESCO or a THOMPSON pump. Does anyone recognize the #s as to which manufacturer it is? Thank you.

The main seal to the block should be the same for all 300u pumps. My parts book shows gasket 352 439 R1. The oil seal on a Thompson is IH No. 356 887 R91. The other pump seal Pesco is IH no. 356 887 R91. How "bout that. The Thompson and the Pesco have the same shaft seal no. Also, Stamm Equipment in Wayland, Michigan have books to cross reference any part for any tractor.
g"luck.

Thank you Dellbertt. The IH dealer parts person here in WA State indicated that he"s familiar with the Pesco and the Thompson, but asked that I verify I had either of these. Probably to rule out my having yet another aftermarket pump that might have incompatible parts. BTW, is it recommended to go ahead and order the service kit and replace the O-rings etc? I"ve detached the distributor side, but haven"t pulled it out of the block gearing yet, and when I do are there any concerns for parts falling out, keys, etc? thanks.

Nope it all comes out easy and in one piece. If you have aluminum case that is worn too much it is best to have it machined and rebuilt. A rbuilt one costs about $500-$700. If yours was pumping ok and just mixing with crankcase oil I would not open the case but just install new shaft oil seal.
You did not mention if you had a Front Power take-off. If you do the pump is completely different and the seal no. 552 102 R91.
Your dealer should be able to give you a parts pictorial to show you how the thing is put together. The Pesco and the Thompson have very similar cases with the pump no. on the upper outside of the case. If you can"t get a pictorial from your dealer I will try to send you one.
