I appreciate all of your quick responses to my last post. That brings me to my next question about my 1968 cub. If it did come from the factory as a 12 volt, did it come with a 12 volt generator, or alternator? My tractor has what looks to me like an alternator and a voltage regulator attached to it. i don't know alot about the electronics, but that doesn't sound right. When I get a chance I will try and post a picture on this thread. I am away from my parts catalog for a few days. thanks alot.

If memory serces me right those cubs had a starter genny system on them. Does it have both a starter and genny or just a belt drive genny. Also a genny will be longer and smaller in diameter then an alternator.

The starter/generator was first used on the Cub 154 Low Boy. The regular cub in 1959 had a generator. The regular Cubs always used a conventional starter motor.

Well with his being a 1968 I was figureing that it was a low boy or the like. I didn't think the regular cub was still being made in 1968.

They made regular cubs until 1979.

MW,

Don't know about your particular application, but all Delco alternators were externally regulated until about 1970.
