Can anyone tell me if there is a seal at the transmission housing between the housing and the bell housing( clutch ) I backed the cub up on a trailer and transmission oil was coming out of the bell housing. Just bought the cub and I'm trying to restore everything to it's former glory. This is the first cub I've worked on and I'm having a hard time finding information in the manual I have. Would appreciate any advice you can give. I pulled the engine and sent it to the machine shop. It did not appear to be coming from the engine. What do you think? Thanks, George

George,

Yes, there's a seal there. Check first before you split the tractor (at the transmission), because the problem may be simple overfilling. Do this: remove the level plug low on the left side of the transmission. If oil comes out, it may be overfull due to accumulated water. In that case, you know what to do. Then park the tractor with the front low so old accumulated oil can drain from the torque tube. Only then should you worry about replacing the seal.

George, I appreciate the advice. I'll check on that. Hope that's the case.
