Well guys, we are almost finished on the White Demo Restoration. However, we took the front axle and bolster to the IH dealer to have new bearings installed. The phone call that we did not want to receive came today. The threads are stripped on the axel and will not hold the nut. Not a safe condition. Does anyone know of a tractor junk yard for spare parts? I understand that there is one in Indiana and Ohio. You guys have all the answers. Can you help on this one?

Unless the threads are completely gone, just get a clamp type nut. They are available on this site.

The special nut Cowman was talking about works very good I have had one on my 756 for years and it was used hard. It is a nut that screws on the a nut screws on that nut to clamp it to the old threads. Try some auto parts stores.

They make a special nut just for that purpose. I think Tisco still carries them. check with any good dealer.

We are S-W of Chicago about 100 miles, here in the black soil where the corn grows tall ---- when it rains.

There is a place south of St. Louis and I think the name is JP tractor salvage that I bought some stuff from about 10 years ago. Very good to work with. Maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong about the name and location. Congrats on the world series. Wish you where playing the Cards and not the Astros. Oh well there is next year.

Thanks for the info Paul. We found that name and location from the web site given by a very knowledgeable person... The name and location is the same. We are emailing them right now.
What a dissapointment it was when the dealer called about the problem. We are waiting for the front wheels to complete our project. You all are great!!!
