I have a Farmhand F11 loader on my 504. I only use it once a week or less for half an hour. Do you have to periodically change out the fluid in the loader reservior? If so how often? What type of fluid do I need to use? Thanks in advance.

clair: You speak of loader resovoir, Are you using tractor factory hydraulics or do you have a front mounted pump? Front mounted pump system may not require hytran. You may get by with cheaper oil.

As for changing hydraulic oils, no real reason to ever do it unless oil becomes water saturated. Filters will catch dirt, drain plug magnets will catch metal.

As others have said, leaks and hose breakage will change the oil fast enough.

The loader hydraulic pump is separate from the tractor hydraulic pump. It is attached to the rear PTO. The reservior is separate from the tractor reservior. Will HyTran work or will regular hydraulic oil work?

clair: You just need a good grade hydraulic oil for that loader. The tractor factory system should have Hytran.

I use Hy-tran and it seems like those old Farmhands leak enough they change their own oil. But yeah, I suppose one should change it once in a while.
