Bought a Super C about 15 months ago.Drained the transmission got about 1/2 gallon of water and 5 gallons of sludge. Cleaned it out with 5 gallons of kerosine put in fresh 90wt. Drained it yesterday so I could fix the brake seals and got a little over 5 gallons of milky water fouled lube.(Pretty good trick since I only put in 5) Only place I can see that water could get in is around the bolts that hold on the deck.Any other ideas?

Also, anything you can do to keep the rain off that end will help. My old backhoe lived under a tarp for the first ten years I had it. A minor pain taking it on and off every day I used it, but no water in the trans.

Yes it is very common. It comes in around the bolts in the cover and around the gear shift lever. Not to mention all the condensation that comes from temp changes. About all you can do is keep it out of the rain and get it good and warm once in a while to help with the condensation.

Thanks for the info. I wish I had a place to keet it inside. Guess I'll install a new gasket.

AC: Try putting some sealer around those bolts. I like to back them off a bit and get some under the bolt heads as I tighten them. Secondly, I know this looks ugly, but take a 4" square piece of heavy inner tube, cut small hole in middle, slide it down gear shift lever, and again put sealer around it. Not perfect but will help.

On the condensation, good heavy work out will help.

I have used a magnetic block heater on the side of the diff. to warm the oil and drive out the H2O. Seems like one day out of every six months. In humid condensing climates, may be more.
Spark plug type copper gaskets will seal up the bolt holes,
And a boot from a CV joint, clamped only at the top, works on the shifter (till you show the tractor at the fair).
