Recap: I have a damaged and unusable clutch release bearing retainer sleeve, which makes my SC clutch faulty. I am doing a complete re-work of the SC clutch mechinism as a result.

I have the parts tractor (a Farmall C) split and I see that the part I need to repair my SC clutch, the clutch release bearing retainer sleeve, is pressed into the cross-member inside the torque tube. I have some choices to make here.

If I want to use my original SC torque tube, I will need to remove the C torque tube to press out the sleeve. I then will have to remove the SC torque tube to press the good sleeve back into its place.

With that being said, wouldn’t you think it would be easier to just leave the sleeve in the C torque tube and do a swap of the torque tubes?

Is the C torque tube replaceable with the SC torque tube?

I know I will have to switch the hydraulic unit because the C hydraulic unit is different from the SC.

Is there anything else different with the C torque tube assembly from the SC that would prevent a transparent swap? It looks the same but I don’t know for sure.

Thanks in advance for any information given here.

Wouldn't it be better in the long run to replace the sleeve with new? Of course, assuming a new one is available... Yes, it costs $$$, but it's a LOT less work, and you have the original tractor, not some cobbled-up mutt.

Nat you are correct about not cobbling up a good tractor, but the torque tube will need to come off to press the good one press it into the SC anyway. I have a good one on the C tractor so I guess I will take both tubes off, press out the good one from the C and press it into the SC. Thank you for your input. When you are working on a tractor alone, sometimes you just need to discuss these things with folks.

If you compare the the tubes where the rockshaft on the bottom rear is connected you will see a difference in the linkage. You will have to use the C linkage with the internal adjustment. It will connect to the Super C pedal but may be at the extreem of available adjustment. Might have a problem with the linkage between the pedal and the rockshaft,(They are different). The hydraulic will be OK both types were used on the Super-C. Other than that I think it would work. Don't know where you are but I have a extra SC torque tube you could have cheap. Craig
