It could be a Continental engine instead of a Cub. IH used Continental engines in quite a few of these smaller power units. One was for sale near me recently and it had the Continental engine, but the magneto and other parts were IH. The Continental engine is a flat head, similar in appearance to the cub.

I have a IH power unit that came off a "52 IH "64" combine, the "64" meaning 64 inch wide cut, I"m sure. It is classically a Cub engine with a speed reducer and a varable pitch pulley which would change the speed of the threshing cylinder in the combine. I nabbed it off my dad"s combine just before he was going to scrap the combine 25 years ago. I"d like to find a generator sized roughly for the 10 or so h"power this engine is for a power source post hurricane, the eye of Ivan came over my house in Sept 2004 and we were w/out power 5 days. You"re right, it makes a FINE little running engine. Joe Howard
