I was starting to have problems with dirty gas on my 300U, so tonight I drained the gas, plugged the line, and filled the tank with white vinegar. My question is, how long do I leave the vinegar in the tank? If the air temp makes a difference, we are having days in the upper 50 degree range and nights in the low 40's. I wanted to do it before it gets colder as I need to work outside!
Also, how do I flush the tank, and with what, after I do drain the vinegar out?
Thank You for reading and any helpful responses are appreciated.

Thanks for the helpful answers guys. I appreciate them. For the smart _ _ _ answers, I wish they would keep their stupidity to themselves.
Thanks again for the help.

Acetone is a good choice. It will bind up the water and acid and carry it out of the tank. Second, it will dissolve any gum and varnish that the vinegar left behind, and third it has a high volitility and will leave the tank completely dry after a few minutes. It may go without saying, but don't use it around sparks or flames!

You should be able to drain it after a couple of days. Mite want to stick an airhose in and blow slowly to stir the mixture a bit. a fter draining run a quart or so gas to flush and it should be ready to run. Those smart answers dont know that vinegar can remove rust.

May as well go ahead and drop some cucumbers in the tank also and see if you end up with pickles. Seriously, the only way you will get that tank clean is to remove it from the tractor and then use some sort of a chemical treatment. Vinegar is acidic, but I doubt if it is strong enough to do much good. A lot of people take the tank to a radiator repair shop for cleaning.
