can anyone give me an idea of what a 450 farmall/ good condition/ w a mounted 2mh picker in good running order would be worth. i was picking corn tonite and had a little problem. coming up to the end of the row and whoosh, up in flames it went. luckily i only got a few hairs singed' and was able to save the wagon load of corn, tools and our corn field. tractor and picker are a total loss. it was my grandfathers unit. i always cuss every year when we have to put it on, but now i miss it. i guess it was getting easier every year. funny. it was insured but we dont have any idea what its worth. all we know is its going to be hard to replace. everything we find has been sitting to long and is junk. i know i found 5 today while i was looking for parts today, since you cant get parts anymore. dont have that problem now. but if anyone could help me out to get the value i would appreciate it. thanks

Sorry about your loss. I would imagine there have been many people that want to burn them when they are trying to mount or dismount the pickers. But it is very different when you actually do lose it. As to the value, was the tractor gas or diesel, did it have power steering, fast hitch, tires? Tractor could have been worth $1800-4500.00 Picker could have been worth $100-1500.00 So a total of about 1900-6000.
Where are you located. Are you going to be interested in selling the tractor and picker as it is?? E-mail me if you are interested

our picker is shot. when it caught on fire i dove off with it still running, and it whent 50 yards and into a tree. what a site that was. we pulled it out last night and to my suprise the front tires were still up, and the front plug wire was still intact. however the picker is sprung only thing salvageable is the transmission and elevator. the motor on the tractor is loose. will take picker off this weekend, we hope then see what is salvageable on tractor. just wish we could have gotten a picture of the tractor while we were picking. now all i can get is a picture of a crispy critter.

I would call your local Case/IH dealer and see if they would know. I would check that insurance policy to see if you have replacement cost coverage on that policy. Then it would be what a replacement unit would cost and your policy should cover it. Hal
