Have a Super C that I've been working on and decided to see what the oil pressure was really doing. Put a test guage in and got results that seemed low. At working temp (160 to 180) it only shows 23 lbs at high idle and 8 lbs at idle.Has never made any noise, doesn't smoke and seems like a strong engine. Should I leave well enough alone or consider this a problem?

Thanks for the peace of mind. Think I'll wait for another reason to take the pan off. Going into the brakes next.

Go to page number 9 on this forum and look at scott2's posting on a SuperA and read slappy's
posting on how he raised the oil pressure on his tractor. Hal

With the oil pressure you have, you are not doing any damage. It will run for a long time that way.

AC Hodges: I've seen these little engines go a long time at similar oil presure. As Andrew said you can probably improve it some buy fixing warped plate on end of pump or gasket.

My 130 has been running a lot of years just that way and has seen a lot of hard work. I'm waiting for another good reason to take the oil pan off, like a leak, but it just never happens.

What kind of oil are you running sometimes that can lead to low pressure. Also the oil pump bottom plate could be warped. or bad gasket. I would say that 23lbs aint that bad, Seen the Ford N series run in the 10lbs range when hot the guy who owend it says that the nature of them. Andrew
