Well - I THINK I finally got the problems solved with this 454! Took it back to the dealer and worked a deal out for them to get it running or we would trade back. They tinkered with it for a couple days, got it running BETTER, but it still acted funny. They worked a couple more days, replaced parts and ran it across the dyno. Now it will actually start off UPHILL in 3rd high range. Still a little cold blooded, but aren't we all! They put in a effort to get it fixed. The guys in the shop were getting tired of hearing from me, but the owner wanted to get things taken care of. Kiem Farm Implements in Syracuse NE (Case/IH dealer).

Glad to hear it's OK now. Sounds like maybe Keim implements has some lazy mechanics?

I"ll say this for Keims, they have always been very patient with me, and good about getting parts for my old obsolete and odd ball stuff. My son does our mechanical work, so we don"t use their shop. By the way Rusy, they also have a 2nd store at Hamburg. The owner, Mr. Keim has got to be past 80. Been in Syracuse ever since I can remember.

Didn't mean to be derogatory about Keim's. Always good to hear about a dealer that has been in business for that many years and is still going strong. I still wonder though why Galen had so much trouble?

The "old man" Keim is 87 and is just around for "show" and to "irritate" (his own words). His son Mark, now runs the show. Mark has been great to work with, but he is gone a lot (triplets at home) and the shop/parts guys didn't want to do much. The one mechanic, Herb (I think), finally tore into it and didn't get off of it until it was fixed. It's harvest season, so I KNOW they would rather be doing something else! I kept a level head durring this and talked it out with Mark. I think he'd have been less willing to work something if I'd been less civil. All-in-all, I'll probably go back for other stuff, if/when I can afford to.
