Need to remove the pump because hydralic oil is getting into the engine. What do I need to do to get everything back together and have the distributor in time? Sure appreciate any advice. You guys have been really helpful. Thanks!!

Best way to do it is get it at TDC and note where the timing marks are on the crank. Also pull the dist cap and note/mark where its at. Then pull it and when you put it back togeather make sure all is where it was before you took it apart. Not hard to do unless you turn the engine over. Also pull a battery cable so its less likly to happen

Gordy,

Like Dave says, that is an easy one.

FIRST THING: note the position of the rotor(note the relative position of the pump drive slot as well) and yank 'er apart.

JUST DO NOT ROTATE THE ENGINE!

Put 'er back together with the rotor/pump drive at the same exact position it was in before the repair and you're in business.

"By Guess & By God"

When I did my 300, I did get the engine at TDC, but I don't think it matters. Just be sure you note the position of the rotor when reassembling. When removing, it'll come off in a twist motion, when reassembly, position the twist the same way that it came off. If you are lucky, it'll run when you get'er back together.
