14" mold board question: quite simply, it will not dig in? I have a cub one point hitch and there is slack in the 1 point chain. Any suggestions? Thanks

You can see that long lever that Nat referred to
in the picture of the Cub on that web site that I sent you. Hal

Hi Jamie, You need to go to TM tractor parts and look at there pics. There is a up and down adjustment that you mount on the right hand side its a lever that hooks in front of the wheel and to the horseshoe thus alowing the horeshoe to go down and the point digs or up and it will dig less . You may not have yours hooked up right . Look at the pics. JON

Jamie: Aside from what Hal has said, and I'm not disputing that. Plows will never go in the ground if point is badly worn. Set the plow on a level floor, if the point looks like a sled runner, it will act like a sled runner.

actually the plow is in really good shape. it does not look like a sled runner so im sure its just out of adjustment, wherever that is? also do you know where i can locate pics of the plow in it original color?

That plow needs to be free to float, as Nat has mentioned you need to locate that lever that tilts
the plow point. It will plow then. Where are you located? Hal

You need to get the plow point tilted down. My
plow has a lever to keep it in a tilted position
the more you angle the point the deeper the plow
will go. I had a Farmall A and it had a lever to
raise the plow and one to angle the point. It would go so deep the wheels started to slip. Hal

im not sure what or where the lever is. i attempted to find an adjustment on the plow so it would "point" towards the ground but no luck.

Here's a website for the Cub 193 plow that shows the drawbar reversed as Nat mentioned. Hal

The plow is a cast beam with the plow iron on the end... There's no adjustment on the plow itself.

Depth is controlled by a long lever beside the right fender that should have come with the plow. There's a straight linkage between the lever and the turned-around drawbar so the lever will raise and lower the front of the plow. This changes the angle at which it digs into the ground. Lowering the front of the plow tips the point toward the ground and makes it dig deeper.

1. You have the plow mounted correctly? The drawbar needs to be removed, turned around, and mounted backwards on the front mounting holes on the final drive housings. It needs to pivot up and down freely.
2. You have the depth control? If you don't have the depth control, the plow is useless.

Jamie,
The point is (I believe) the issue. The point on a IH plow is curved down at the cutting tip and literally sucks the plow into the ground. Eventually you will need a new point, take yours into the store and compare it to new. I'll bet there is a stunning difference, Shares, the long cutting edge, also wear out. As do land slides. They are modest in cost and reduce the effort required to plow a whole bunch.
Two cents, let us know what the outcome is with a post.
