Sounds like a fair price. A couple of things that you might want to check out. Does the parking brake hold the tractor? If not it could be adjustment, but more likely it will be a chewed up brake band. The band is located inside the tranmission requiring the whole tranny cover to be removed. It is a fair job to replace.
Another thing to check is the brakes. They are hydraulic brakes and while they work well when they are in good shape, they are spendy and a pain to work on. Check for leaks. There are two small cylinders and an equalizer valve located ahead of the steering wheel underneath where the battery sits. All in all, a very fuel efficient and handy tractor. Quick hydraulics, nice heavy 3 point and nice hydrostatic steering. The engine is basically the same as the six cylinder 310 german diesel, except missing two cylinders.

Loyd, I watch tractor prices regularly in the "WESTERN ONTARIO FARMER" and I have yet to see a 584 for less than 10K much less a 684 w loader. Those were a good series of tractor and 5000 hours shouldn't hurt a maintained tractor..I'd shy away if the unit is all beat to crap, but if it was well cared for you can't go wrong. I remember trying to decide on a 684 or a 584 back in 1985, then price dictated 584 and it has been a great tractor..that whole series were...Mike in Exeter Ontario

684 with 5000 hours and quick attach for 10K,,, buy it now!! If it seems to be a decent running tractor that is 2-5 K low in Canadian funds, at least down here on the east coast.
