Radiator on Cub

I'm rebuilding a 1949 Farmall Cub and I would like to remove the radiator and send it to be flushed and repaired. The bottom bolts look like they might be hard to get out. Anyone tell me what would be the best way to get them out? The distributor is on top of the governor. I'm sending the engine to be rebuilt. Do I take the distributor and governor off before I send it to the shop. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks, George

I would call the repair shop where you're having the engine rebuilt and ask them if those items need to be removed. I think they would rather have them removed, but they may reinstall your governor and distributor if they remove them.

If you cannot use a torch to heat those bolts, I guess you're stuck using WD40. I never really liked it. If they're hex nuts I would use a 6 point socket to keep from rounding them off. They may even break if they're rusted very bad
and then you can install new bolts. Hal

WD-40 does about as much good as unzipping your pants and whizzing on the bolts. It's not a penetrating lubricant; it's a solvent and water repellant. I use it to clean the stovetop in my kitchen.

Use a real penetrating oil like Agco Powerpart Panther Penetrating Lube, PB Blaster, or Kroil.
