Rebuilding a 350U, new six loop rims and repainted center disks. I used grade 8 hex bolts to hold the centers to the rim. Is it necessary to use the square headed bolts. The reason I ask is it seems as though the bolts want to set in the loop at a slight angle. Thanks.

Only two reasons I can think of for using square head bolts.

1. You want your tractor to be as orginal as possible.

2. Sometimes the setting for the bolts have a recess ot a lug designed to accept square head bolts. The recess or the lug is to keep the bolt from turning as you tighten or loosen it. In this situation, nearly impossible to get a wrench on the head if you substitute hex bolts, so best to use the square head bolts.
