Trying to remove the fan drive pulley on my 46 Farmall M. Specifically trying to remove the crankshaft starting crank pin (on the outside end of the crankshaft). I removed the set screw that locks the pin in but the pin won't easily come out. Is it tapered? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It is straight but they stick in hard. Heat helps, so does holding a hevy sledge under the shaft for support when you hit it. Use a punch nearly the same size as the pin and a big hammer. If it is mushroomed over, saw it off flush.

Thanks a bunch. I don't want to damage the bearing and seals as I'm just changing the timing gears and cover plate and not getting into the engine.
