On my 340 if the lift lever is all the way up or down the hydraulic pump whines. I can move the lever just a little and the noise stops. Is this the way it works or is there something wrong. Looks like to me you cpuld'nt use this tractor with ground engaging implements. thanks for coments!

Hunter, I've got a Farmall 340 and it works the same way. I don't know if thats th/e way it's supposed to work or not. I just deal with it. I think you can take the down pressure off by removing a bolt on the hitch. Personely I wouldn,t worry that much about it. PUTTER
