What are your opinions about changing a 44 dual fuel model H over to gas only. I am trying to decide whether I should restore it back to original condition and run it the way it was meant to be run (or at least able to be run) or whether I should just make her a gasser only.

Changing it over to gas involves filling the main tank with gasoline...

What change they run good on gas or the other way. Theres no need to change any thing just run it on gas, it doen't care and you can still run it the other way if you want.

Exactly, leave it like it is and run it on gasoline. Distillate is no longer available, hasn't been for 40 years or so. The next best thing would be kerosene, and around here kerosene is more expensive than gas.

I guess I know that sounded like a dumb question. I should have mentioned that the old manifold is bad and I don't have shutters and possibly need a new carb. So I didn't know if I should be a purist and restore it back to original factory condition or just get a different (cheaper) manifold, skip the shutters etc. Never really intended to try and run distillate through it anyway.

Thanks for the input though.

Since you put it that way, go ahead and change out the manifold to a gasoline manifold, those are much easier to find. You will not need to change out the carburetor unless the one you have is total junk or something. Very little differences between the distillate and gasoline carbs, you will never know the difference.
