My "new" "53 Super M has oil seepage around the oil pan, so I plan to replace the gasket. Any tips for doing this? Should I use some type of gasket sealant or not? Thanks!

When you get the pan off, make sure to tap the bolt holes back to the original shape. They can get distorted after a guy tries to over tighten them to stop a leak.

I replaced the gasket on my W6 for the same reason. I used sealant on the pan side only, that way removal in the future is easier. Shouldn't have to lay on my back trying to remove the old gasket from the block.

Yes, I always use permitex. It has been a few years so there may be something better.
