What's the "correct" or "original" jar for the pre-cleaner? Ball or Mason? Pint or half-pint? Round or square? Etc.? Did any carry the IHC logo?

Re: Engine air intake pre-cleaner jar- Super C? in reply to leon, 09-30-2005 05:05:38
Several have made reference to "wide mouth". The metal part of the pre-cleaner I have accepts regular mouth jars, not wide mouth. The drawing in the Super C parts book even looks like it's a regular not wide mouth jar. For that matter it looks like pint not half-pint too. Now what?

Here's a picture, red paper inside is to help the jar show up better.

The red paper does make it show up better but I still can't make out the letters or numbers or words below "Ball". The part number is 64178D for a Super C, but that doesn't seem to be it.

The word directly under BALL is "special", down at the bottom of the jar is "wide mouth". There are no part numbers on any of the jars I have ever seen. The jar in the photo is the one pint size, fits Hs and Ms. You would be looking for the same thing, only in the 1/2 pint size.

Yes, and it's fun to get a little toy green tractor and put it in the jar.

Ball special wide mouth. Pint for the Hs and Ms, half pint for the As, Bs, and Cs.

My neighbor has a bunch of Mason jars stacked next to bags of corn and sugar - over by this big copper pot with tubes and a fire under it... would those work? They smell a little funny...

You'd want to be sure and drain them first.
