I am a fairly new owner of a 300 utility and the clutch causes the tractor to jump if under a little load as you let the clutch out, seems to happen especially in reverse. I welcome any cures, especially ones that do not involve much work. Since I got this thing, that is all I have done is work on it.
Thanks for reading this and any thoughts you might have.

That was one of the symptoms my H had, worse when cold, first backing out of the shed. When the clutch started to slip I replaced it. When I got it out I found that the friction disc was in excelent shape, the problem was the pressure plate - seems that the springs had gotten weak. The pedal feels better now and no more jump/shudder.
BTW, I went ahead and replaced the disc, too, 'cause I had ordered a kit and had the new one. Wm

There are alot of things that can cause this and none of the fixes are simpel , (1) someone may have installed a ceramic disc and not ground the flywheel . (2) broken damper springs in the disc. (3) warped pressure plate (4) the pressure plate is not set correctly . With out splitting the tractor and removing the clutch and disc. and looking at everything it is real hard to say . If the rear main seal is leaking and ya have oil on the disc this will cause it to grab . Hard spots in the flywheel can cause it .

Not being smart but are you sure it is the clutch? I believe you are steping on the peddle insted of pushing like on a row crop if the throttle is to high and you bounce one time your foot continues to bounce the clutch? the other possiability is the return spring on the peddle is to tight or too loose. just my thoughts for the simpilest possiable fix.

I like your idea, so I am hoping that I have a rubber leg. Doesn't sound like the other possibilities are very desirable. Thanks!
