Just bought a 49' "M" and I going to change the oil. I haven't had a change yet to get a reprinted copy of the operaters manual or the service manual and I was wondering if anyone could tell me how many quarts the manual calls for. Also where is the best place to buy a replacement air filter? Would they have one at NAPA or similar car parts store or would I have to go to a tractor dearler?

8 quarts of a quality name brand motor oil.

No air filter to change. Just clean it in kerosene.

Is this model filter difficult to find?

You fill the oil until it runs out the top petcock on the side of the oil pan.

There is no air filter. This tractor has an oil bath air cleaner. All you can do is change the oil in the bottom cup of the air cleaner. It takes about a quart of 30W oil for the air cleaner.

8 quarts..NAPA has the oil filter, I think it is ea a 1157 filter, the air cleaner should be an oil bath, there is a line on the bottom of the air filter that has the oil level, drain the old oil, clean all the sludge, add new 30 wt oil to the correct level.
