Does anyone have a wiring diagram for a '53 Super A? I recently replaced the original cloth-jacketed wiring harness with new wiring. The problem that I am having is that the on/off switch does kill the ignition. I have to pull the wire to the coil to shut it off. The switch seems to control the battery charge however. Any ideas?

Randy - Punch below. The diagram is for a '53 Super H, but your Super A is wired the same.

Randy: My first thought, do you have wire to coil hooked to wrong side of on/off switch? There is an excellent diagram in the original IH operators manual.

Here goes; I will use left and right on dash as looking from behind dash. Wire from BAT terminal on regulator goes to right terminal looking at back of amp gauge. Wire from L terminal on regulator goes to right terminal looking at back of switch. Wire from left terminal of amp gauge goes to starter terminal. Wire from left terminal of on/off switch goes to coil. Short wire from right side of switch goes to fuse holder. A wire from fuse holder goes to light switch. At generator and regulator F terminal on gererator hooks to F terminal on regulator. A terminal on generator hooks to GEN terminal on regulator.

I did not go into the wiring for lights, in that case just a wire going from light switch to each light. Remember that fuse operates only the lights, the ignition does not have fuse protection. I hope I covered all, if not come back.
