My 1066 is leaking where the pump line connects to the injector. Is there a gasket or o-ring that can be replaced or does the line or injector or both need to be replaced. I need to have everything ready to fix it next time I plow, so who should I go to on-line or call to have all the required parts in hand for my next work weekend? Have I potentially done some damage running it with this slow leak?

Pete

Pete, try a new line before replacing the injector. I"ve had the same thing happen many times, 99% of the time the line is cracked. Replacing an injector on a 1066 is a pretty tough job if you"re out in the middle of nowhere and never done it before. There"s a good possiblity that the injector will be stuck, and the cooling sleeve may come out with it. Gotta drain the cooling system in case that happens, or you dump the coolant into the cylinder. Even if you get the injector out with no problem, you still need to get down in there and clean up the bore and the seat perfect, or the new injector will not seal. There"s also a copper sealing ring that needs to be replaced. Call a different Case-IH dealer, most will be more than happy to UPS parts.

All I ever do is let it run and loosen it up about a half a turn and slowly tighten it back up. They need to stay centered as you tighten which does not happen when the engine is not running. If this don't do it get a new line and or injector

Remove the line from the injector and look at the end of the line around the feral and also the end of the injector . I am guessen that you have tryed tighten it up a littel . You may need a new line or injector if there is damage to either. This happens when they are over tightened.

That makes sense. It leaked more after I got after it with a wrench. Who has good injectors and replacement lines? I hope that I haven't burned a piston.

I doubt that you burned a piston if it is leaking then it is not firing properly and it will miss .I don't know where your at but around here the line will have to come from Case IH and also the injector or from a friend that has a pump shop as he also have a hdy tubing bender that can bend new lines and rebuild the injector.

The closest IH dealer to the farm is Stephenville, TX and the have a great fondness for thier parts. I am in the Dallas/Ft Worth area, and when I call a IH/Case dealer here and ask about 1066 parts, I just get dead air on the other end. If your buddy can mail me the parts without cores until I pull the other one, that would be handy. My E-mail is pgoerdel@netscape.net if you would like to send me his information off-line. I can't recall if it's the #2 or #3 injector. Do the lines interchange?

No the lines will not interchange . I am in N.east Ohio and my buddy is in Pa. When he makes up a line he needs the old one to get the bends correct. Around here the 1066 is still a working tractor on many farms heck i still have customers that are farming FULL time with S/MTA's .
