What is the difference between the gear ratios in a Farmall H and Farmall Super H? I know 2nd, 3rd and 4th are faster in the Super H, but was wondering how 1st gear compares in the two. Also, what is the horsepower in the H and Super H?

With same size tires and turning the same RPM
the speeds are exactly the same in first and fifth. Both offered a low low first gear the same ratio.Only H offered a non standard fourth gear called high speed fourth. The tooth count for 2,3 and 4 listing driving gear first. H-2 28&42, H-3
31&39, H-4 35&35, H high speed 4 41&29. SH-2 29&41,SH-3 34&36, SH-4 39&31.Regular first both
23&47, Low low both 17&53.Pinion,ring gear, constant mesh and bull gears same ratio. This is on regular row crops.

From Fay's data book
Gear H Super H 1st 2 5/8 mph 2 5/8 mph
2nd 3 mph 3 3/4 mph
3rd 4 1/4 mph 5 mph
4th 5 3/8 mph 6 5/8 mph
5th 15 5/8 mph 16 1/4 mph

Belt HP 27.9 34.61

Speeds are with 10X38 tires for the H and 11X38 tires for the Super H. Format of table does not come through to the forum. I think you can make it out though.

Not a great deal of difference, but these are out of the H/Super H Operators manuals with the same tire size you list:
H Super H
1st 2 1/2 2 5/8
2nd 3 3/8 3 3/4
3rd 4 1/8 5
4th 5 1/8 6 5/8
5th 15 5/8 16 1/4

Drawbar HP -- (not in manuals) 25.5/31
It is very easy to misplace or miscopy numbers when writing or publishing.
