I have recently purchased a 1950 Farmall Super A. The seat tag is missing and where it was is white paint. There is white paint bleeding through the red all over the tractor. Is there a way to obtain the original serial number for this tractor?

The engine serial "may" be close to the chassis serial. Whether it is close enough, I don't know. "Accepted" chassis serials for white Super A's are 281269-285298. Either end of that range will be questionable. Casting codes may range from about Sept-Oct 1949 through early March 1950. If all that matches your Super A is likely a white demo, BUT if you ever want to sell it as authentic, the missing original tag is a strike against it. I have a supposedly white C, missing the original tag also. I repainted it red, because that is the way I wanted it. White paint under the red just about everywhere when I bought it, far as I'm concerned it is a white demo. If it is ever sold, although I will probably mention the white, I will emphasize that it cannot be proven.

There is a serial number stamped on the right side of the motor under the #1 sparkplug also.
