I was working on my tractor this weekend, WOW!! I got it up and running, cleaned carb, new plugs, oil, gas and battery. It has not run for about four years. I have a problem, I went to put it in gear and no luck, all it did was grind. My dad told me to try pushing down on the gear shift and clutch he said that some models required that you push down on the gear shift? He also said it could be the throw out bearing. I will be going back to my property in two weeks does anyone have an idea of what it might be??
Thanks Mark

sometimes you get lucky and remove the coil wire so it cant start and put it in gear, then hit the starter a few times to see if it will free up,just be careful, then if that doesnt work try as the last person wrote by driving it around in gear just REMEMBER that until it frees up you have no way to stop but killing the ignition. good luck

If it hasn"t run in 4 years, I would imagine the clutch is stuck. If you can start it in gear, you may be able to drive around with the clutch depressed until it brakes free. However, you won"t be able to stop (the clutch), so be careful! If you check archives under "stuck clutch", you should find many ideas on getting her freed up.
