you can make about 250hp or more out of them tractors in about 5 minutes I think that will about run whatever you put to the pto. Now as far a weight and soft ground thats another thing.

Really doesn't matter how many row unit you put on there. I can tell you a 1066 with a sharp well adjusted NH 890 will chop a ton per min. Whether you have 2, 3 or 4 rows. Rows aren't going to make any difference, didn't here any of these guys talking low gear. By the way that was a new 1066 as it came from factory and new harvester as well.

We run a NH 782 two row and it is about enough and i have this one turned up a bunch low third and some times low 4 and i do keep the knifes sharp and the shear bar set to spec. when the fields get soft and ya getten a full wagon it will work the snot out of the 1066 in our country. IF i ever have the extra time this fall and winter i am going to put the control unit in the 1486 as it has a bunch more power and weight over the 1066.

If the pump's been turned up, like most of them have, it'll toy with that chopper. Even if it hasn't, it'll have plenty of power. Compared to hay, corn is easy to chop.

Sharp knives are a must, though. Not just because it'll waste power, but because diesel is $3 a gallon, too. Plus, the feed will be more consistent.

Red Depends on how you got the knives sharpened and set, the knives need to cut not shew it off.

The 1066 will have its hands full with that three row ESPECIALLY if the chopper has a Kernel processor.

A 1066 should handle a 3 row head just fine. I run an 806 with a turbo, on an 890 New Holland with a 2 row head. I run in low 2nd TA ahead in 200 plus bushel corn. When the load gets full and the ground a little soft the 806 has his hands over full. A 1066 is a lot more tractor.
