A tractor dealer around these parts, who sells Kubota and New Holland, uses as its advertising "catch phrase"...."The best tractors and equipment on earth".I think some 50+ year old IH,JD,AC,MM,Cockshutt and Ford tractor owners might have something to say about that.Since when has a Kubota lasted over 50 years? I know that Kubota makes some decent stuff, but boasting like that? I guess anything to move overpriced machinery....

Throughout my life I've operated a lot of tractors. Spent a lot of time on a Farmall M, MH 44, JDB, JDA and Ford N's. Great tractors, all of them.

Now we come to 2005; if I were going into any kind of business that required the use of a mid to large compact or larger, it would be a Kubota. I've used them and have seen what they can do. I've also used comparable sized Deere's and they don't measure up to a Kubota.

Last 50 years? With the proper maintenance, they sure will.

Paul: He may be right about his Kubota tractors. As you may or mat not know, I was quite fond of my Farmall 656D. Since my farming days I've operated a few newer tractors, right up to and including 2004 models CaseIH and Deere. To date the only tractor I've operated that I like as well as my 656 is Kubota. I have operated a 6950 and a 8550 both very agile tractors, very user friendly. Whether they last as well as the old Farmall is another matter.

Wow! Do you take every advertising claim at face value? You don't want to know about Barnum and Bailey's claim to be the "Greatest show on earth".

I think Honda uses that phrase in its advertising for its atv's. I agree with you if kubota's are in daily use 70+ years from now then the phrase may appliy. Thing is I'am sure there will still be many H's and M's and other's still working along side them close to 140 years old!

Boy, how right you are with that statement. I get amazed when I hop on my '41 H (now reaching legal retirement age at 64) and she pops right off and runs almost like a new one and, in a lot of cases, is more reliable than the newer machines. A little prevnetative maintenance goes a l-o-n-g way!
