I have the Liftall out of my '44 H to replace those pesky front transmission and countershaft seals. I also bought new bearings as I thought/hoped the old bearings would come out once the seal carrier was out. I haven't had any problems with the old bearings, I just thought that after 60 years of use (and more than a little neglect by the PO)that it would be wise to replace them while everything was apart.

Well the bearings don't simply slide out. Does the transmission cover have to come off to replace them? If not is it even worth the effort to try to get them out by coming at them from belley pump opening?

I have another liftall question too, but I'll make a separate post.

Thanks.

Slappy Once you have the pump out then you get the drive shaft and clutch out then the top cluster will come out and then you can replace the 2 bearings in the top cluster and pilot bearing if you like. As for the front bearing on the bottom shaft you might get it out if you work it it after you take the seal holder off.
