More Super W6 questions

On our Super W6 there is what looks to be like some sort of shifter without the rod in it down by the clutch pedal and left brake drum. I know it's not a TA because it doesn't run into the transmission. My boss who is an IH collector thinks it may be and M&W hand clutch (that'd be nice!). I want to know if all Super W6's had this shifter type mechanism and what is does. I would test it to see if it's a M&W hand clutch, but it's still in pieces as in my post on removing the transmission cover (still no luck with that.) Thanks for the help. JaredM

Might be either a Heisler or M&W overdrive. The M&W hand clutch was installed to provide "live" PTO, and replaced the brake drum on the left side.

How do I go about finding out if its an overdrive or hand clutch. Where would I find casting numbers etc. to tell the brand and stuff. Thanks. JaredM

Sounds like an M&W hand "clutch" to me. It's really not a clutch in the traditional sense; it just breaks the connection between the differential and the left wheel so it spins free.

M&W made aftermarket products that were added to the tractor, added by the dealer, or perhaps someone else. It was not a factory option, thus not many tractors had them, compared to the total number of tractors produced.
