Bought a sleeve and ring set through the local NAPA dealer. Went with the 3 1/8 bore. Everything went well, built a sleeve puller and got the old sleeves out and the new ones installed. When I put the rings on the new aluminum pistons found the oil scrapers would just fall through the sleeve. Not only are they way too small for the 3 1/8 bore sleeves, they are too big to fit the old 3 inch bore iron pistons.
All four sets are the same. Like they are maybe .010 or .015 over not .125. Anyone seen this?

NAPA dealer ordered a new set of rings by the same part number and they are the correct rings. The only difference was the lot number. The lot number is printed in very small numbers on the back of the ring package.
Everything went together well, and engine runs perfect now. Lots more power. Now if I can keep from tearing the transmission out of it.

Was there an expander with the ring set? The oil rails usually have an expander installed beneath the rails. This would make the oil rings protrude beyond the piston wall. If this isn't the problem I would go back to NAPA. Hal
