I have a friend that I am trying to help restore a 560 Diesel. He bought it with the pump bad,so we removed it to find the shaft was broken off on the end. Also the gear that drives the pump had several teeth broken off and it looked like something had caused it not to mesh correctly. Could there be a bearing or sleeve worn that would cause this? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

When the shaft broke it let the gear fall down into the timing cover and shear teeth off. When you pull the cover to replace the gear check the others and make sure you get all the broken teeth pieces removed. Hopefully you only ruined the one gear. Jake
