444 Hydraulic Outlet Question

My IH 444 gas tractor does not have any hydraulic outlets. Is there a way to plumb one in, shut off the 3pt and use the 3pt control to run a single acting cylinder?

Would it be better to get a cross single lever control valve and plumb it in and how would one go about this?

I priced an OEM hydraulic outlet and lever from Bates for around $700.00 and dont want to go that expensive!

Thanks
John

Thanks for all the help. Think I'll try running the line from the big plug and then shutting the valve to 3pt. Wanting to use this tractor on my dump wagon cause the kids can drive it.

Thanks
John

I have an IH 354, made about the same time the 444 was built so maybe the hydraulics are the same. My tractor has a hydraulic hose from the big plug on the valve housing under the seat to a quick connect coupling at the hitch rockshaft. It is pressurized by closing the isolator valve and raising the position control handle to the upper stop (if it is adjusted correctly). When the remote is extended, move the control handle slightly to the lower position and the cylinder should hold. Moving the handle further will release the cylinder. If you need more info from my manual for the 354 let me know. gene

I got fed up with switching the hydraulics back and forth using the 3pt lever.
With a bit of work I cut into the line from the pump and ran a Tee through a 2 lever controller then continued on to the 3 pt hitch. I also Tee'd off a set of remote quick connects for things like a log splitter.
I don't know where you live but in Canada there is Princess Auto. They have a good supply of controllers and fittings. I did the whole thing for about $450 and have full use of everything all the time.
It's messy but not hard! Good Luck!

Hi Engine, IH use to market a single outlet that connected to the big plug in the casting in front of the seat and ran a pipe on the right hand side of the seat and had a quick coupler just below the 3pt rocker arm. Then by turning the valve at the front of the seat that is marked SHUT OFF/ON the 3pt control lever can be used to raise/lower the implement attached to the remote outlet.

Hope this helps.
