I bought a 560 I don't think it has the original motor. The numbers I found on left side of the block are 379875R1.Can anyone tell me what motor this is from that number? Also down lower is no. 8 30 M. Thanks for any information.

The paint is all off that area and not rusted.I even used my reading glasses and still saw nothing. |The ID tag on bell housing is also gone.

Gary, without those numbers, there's no telling what it is, aside from pulling the head and measuring the bore. Check that part number you posted to see if you typed it in correct, and I can search my CD's again.

The 9 could maybe be an 8.

Painted over? I'm not kidding when I say the numbers are small and hard to find.

You did not say if it was a gas or a diesel. Describe your engine. If it's a diesel, does it have glow plugs? The first number you posted is a part number. Just searching my parts CD's quick, I could not find that number. The second number you gave is a cast date code, Aug. 30 1968, I think, which would be 5-10 years too late for a 560. The correct engines for a 560 are the C-263 gas or the D-282 diesel. Both use an almost identical block, and many different sizes of these engines were made and used throughout the years. They have the model number and serial number stamped very lightly on a small flat pad just to the rear of the oil filter base. It's very hard to see, so you'll have to clean that area if it's dirty. If it's a gas, look for C-221, C-263, C-291, or C-301. If it's a diesel, look for D-236, D-282, or D-301.
