I pulled the generator from my Super C(it hasn`t charged in 4years)and took it into the rebuild shop. They said it could be $80.00! I told them to call first (reman alt is $35.00) I just needed to vent a little. BTW my newest toy (504) won`t charge either but it has working lights so it won`t wait long.

I just had a generator problem on my 53 Super C. The culprit was the armature. The copper segmented pieces on the back of the armature were coming loose and ripping off the brushes. Don't know what you need to fix yours but if it's anything more then just brushes or brush springs this sounds fair and reasonable. My new armature alone was $67 and the rebuild with all three new brushes was right at $90. Works great now. Hal

$80 is not bad. My local (and reputable...) shop charges $100 to $120 for a Delco 3 brush generator rebuild depending on the work required.

504, I hear ya, been there done that n got the T Shirt lol. Its a matter of economics n suppy n demand n parts n labor charges etc. The alternators are so common versus the older generators are part of the problem. Of course, alternators have electrical advantages but for guys who like originality they are a no no I reckon.
