I picked up a M with a horn loader at an auction saturday for $900. My question is which front end would be better to use, wide or tricycle? Thanks, Jeff

If it's one of those straight-arm loaders that pivots off the rear axle, a wide front won't work. The loader will hit the axle tube before it can lower all the way to the ground.

The bucket width is also a factor. Some of these old loaders have bucket that are barely 3 feet wide, if that. You can't get near anything with a wide front end with a bucket like that.

Otherwise, a wide front does offer a little more stability and strength for loader work.

Its a curved arm loader, the tractor already has a wide front. I thought maybe the tricyle would be stronger and maybe easier to steer.
