I am removing the tranny cover on my Super W6, basically a Super M. So far we have had to remove the hood, fuel tank, steering column, seat, belt pulley, hydraulic hoses and the bolts for hitch supports. We have removed all the bolts on top and looked on the bottom and didn"t see any more. We tried tapping and beating up on it and it won"t budge. We got longer bolts chained the corners and took the loader to it and lifted and it still didn"t budge. What am i missing, are there dowels or is it connected to another part and I don"t see where? Or is it a really good gasket lol. By the way we think the shifter is disconnected or a fork is screwed up somehow because it wont shift out of gear. Thanks in advance for all the help we hope to have it running by next weekend for the Pataskala Antique Power Show. Thanks. JaredM

Did you take the pulley attachment off? I had to remove mine!

To take the shifting fork out you have to look underneath the metal cap under the spring and pin on the shifting lever, their is a pin in the tranny top pound it out and out comes the fork.

I don"t know about the SW6 but their may be a bolt in the brake drum holding the rear on. Just follow the seam around the top of the tranny.

I don't know about the M, but my H had two or three dowell pins. One was close to the front corner, and someone had removed the cover in the past and pried on the rear of the cover. It was cracked through the bolt flange at the rear of the belt pully opening. Small wedges, all the way around and bring it up evenlly. Careful around the belt pully opening....ken

As much as I really hate to tell you this, you may have gone through alot of trouble for nothing. Most ofg the time when your probelm happens, all you have to do is remove the shifter, take a long screwdriver or the like and line the shifter rails back up.The end of the shifter gets worn and will slip out of the groove in the rails. BUT if you do have some internal problems, then pulling the top is the only answer.Only thing I can think of right off hand is the bolt(s) that hold the brake covers on.

How do I go about removing the shifter because we were going to pull the cover up over it. Thanks. JaredM

The shifter should come off with the top, but to get it off, look on the side of the "dome" on the tranny where the shifter goes in.You will see a cap or freeze plug looking deal on each side.Knock those out and then knock the pin out and the shifter will come right out.
