i have a chance to buy a 46 baler from a frm near by are these any good???
the only real reason i am concidering is it has always been in side and the people who own it are very wealthy and if any thing was broke it was taken to the dealer buy the caretaker and fixed right and the original paint is not even worn off the agure or pick up head
im not sure how much hay has been threw it but dont think a real lot becouse as long as anyone iv talked to can remember the far has been leased out and the guy leasing had own equipment
thanks for your input
dan

I had a 46 for years, when I first got it [used] it missed a lot of knots, I cleaned every last piece of old twine, hay, & gunk from the knotters, sharpened the twine knives like razors, and it went a long, long time without missing after that. Keep it under cover if you can, the rust doesn't help them any. I would clean mine out completely at the end of the season, & rub some oil on all the shined up places. Next season, she was good to go.

These are a good baler. Get a manual if you do not have one and read it. There is a very good trouble shooting section on the knotters and there are more grease nipples than you could ever imagine, some in some pretty out of the way places.

Does that come with the 10 TO 12 year old boy that has to ride on the twine box to yell to dad when the bale stops tying. And Gets Yelled at or his behind beat if he is day dreaming about what ever I day dreamed about when I was ten or twelve becuase you let too many untied bales through before you caught it. OOPPS Found my self day dreaming About my child hood again SORRY. JON

Sounds vaguely familiar, except for me, it was a 430 baler, (same baler, different sheet metal) and riding alongside on the 3-wheeler.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. These knotters can get "gremlins" in them, and once they're in, you can't get them out... Had a 430 that worked for a few years, then wouldn't tie a knot. The best baler mechanics in the area couldn't make it work. Traded in on a new 435. Worked for a few years, then wouldn't tie a knot. The best baler mechanics in the area couldn't make it work. Bought a New Holland at an auction, and it's worked as well as any baler could be expected to work.

I've had a 46 twine baler for a number of years and mine has worked very well. I've had a few occassions where I had troubles but always found a reason and fixed it. I'm happy with it.

I had a 46 wire and it was a very good baler. Don't know about twine.

Had a 46, one of the first one's and baled many a bale with it. Both our own and coustom work. Don't compare with the 45 baler, much better! If the one you are talking about is as good as you say, go for it!!
