CUB, Hydraulic unit leaking fluid into motor?

I've got a 1951 Cub. I just finished a transmission rebuild, put it all back together, painted it...& now, my hydraulics are leaking fluid into my motor if I leave the implement on my hitch down (I use it to York rake)...it doesn't seem to leak if I leave the rake "up"...The fluid in the hydraulic unit actually seems to drain into the motor because the hydraulic fluid will get low & motor oil level will rise? Anyone ever heard of this before? Will the hy-trans fluid do any damage to my motor (I drain it out as needed/ check it before every use)? Thanks from the coast of Maine.

Josh:

CNKS provided interesting info and the principles are similar.

BigDog gave you the correct diagnosis.

As was mentioned before -- the overhaul instructions along with the ordering kit info is available on the Cub Manual Server....

Consider the horse led.....

The pump needs new seals (O-rings). This is a classic sign.

Read the F 130 hyd pump leak post below -- principle is the same.
