Went to visit the neighbor today to get some post and started talking bout buying bunch of his equip as I am just getting really into farming. I want to get another tractor for the tillage and have been looking for a while. He has a 756 deisel with 5000 hours on it. It has 540/1000 pto, dual hyd, wide front, Hinicker cab. rear tires has road wear from hauling grain to elevator. Needs batt by my guess . Has been well serviced as I know how the ol gent is. What would be a fair price to offer him as he does not know what oit is worth. I want to give him what it is worth , but do not want to pat too much either. The tractor has no sheet metal issues. I am buying alot of other things as well, but the $ of the 756 is where I need help? Sorry so long.

a good 756 here in east-central SD will run anywhere from 4-8k. i'd give 5-6k for a good one. their nice tractors.

Thanks Casey, It is nice. He has everything I would need to farm about anything. up till 4 years ago he farmed about 200 acres. and farmed it for the last 70 years. Even has a gleaner combine with all three heads.I am gonna see if I can get his 340 w FH and an 880 Oliver deisel as well just to fix up. They have been used hard since new , but are still better than alot out there. I just have to make sure I can make money farming my 40 and renting some smaller feilds around what the "big" guys pass on. I pretty much only have my mortgage and will start off having all the equipment free and clear. Just need more land. I guess this is how Allen felt when he got going again!

You can say that again. Salvage yards will give nearly that much for them just to part the german diesel out.
