My Dad has an 806 on the farm that he would like to replace with something with a three point hitch. We are wondering what we should ask for this tractor. An 806 is not that rare but this one has the factory front wheel assist option. Over the years we have had a lot of lookers pop in off the highway to look at it. It has a cab, 540/1000 pto and is in good running shape. I'm guessing about 100 horsepower? A neighbour suggested starting here. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

I honestly doubt you could find an FWA for under $4500 anymore. Last year I couldn't find a complete one under $4000. So if your 8 is average and doesn't have a three point, the FWA is worth as much or more than the tractor. I don't know where you are located, but here in Iowa, (if I had the tractor and the desire to sell it) I believe I could put $10,000 on the tractor and have a collector buy it the same weekend, if not on the first call. I wouldn't ask less than 9 for it. IMHO.

It really isn't that hard to add a three-point hitch to an 806. Tons of them in salvage yards. You'd probably want to get an entire rockshaft housing/rear end cover, that way you'd have all of the valves. You'd need to add the load control shaft and arm that go in the bottom of the rear end. You could probably get it done for under $1000, if you do the work yourself.

Where are you located? How many hours are on the tractor. How are the tires. Front assist tractors are loved by some and disliked by others. I personnally would pay up to $8000 if the tractor is in good shape cosmetically as well. I am looking for a good tractor at this time anyway.

Dave, $8000. dollars seems to high for a 806 gas. My Dad just sold an 806 gas with a 3 point and power assist for $6000. tinwork was good and had new tires. For $8000 look for a 806 diesel. You won"t burn near the fuel.

Agree, thinking it was a deisel. Farmer I worked for when younger had a 1950? Cockshutt front assist deisel sitting next to the farm yard the last few years. Never stopped in to visit for years, now the tractor is sitting in the neighbors yard who collects tractors, mostly fords. Knowing them it was picked up for a couple grand. Pays to keep in tough.

Wow Thanks for the responses. It is a diesel. Rear tires are fairly new, front tires are fair to poor. body is straight. rear slider windows are broken. We are located near Wetaskiwin, Alberta, Canada. We were offered considerably less than that and I suspected it was worth more. I will give Dad your info. If anyone is interested in it let us know.
