I'm having problems with my front seal in the hydraulic pump blowing and all my hydraulic oil ends up in my motor oil. It has happened 3 times with 2 different pumps. Does anybody have any idea why this keeps doing this?

I believe I am having the same problem on my 130. I am losing hydraulic fluid but dont know where it is going and the engine oil seem to have to much fluid in it and smells like hyd fluid. I have never work on the hydraulic system, so please tell me how the fluid could get from the hydraulic system to the engine oil. Is it easy to fix?

On your tractor, the hydraulic pump is mounted between the distributor drive gear and the distributor. When the seal on the pump leaks, it will either leak into the distributor frying the points or into the drive gear area, which is a direct path down into the oil pan.

Did anything get re-plumbed in the hydraulic system that would cause the fluid to be under pressure at all times, pushing the relief valve? When not in use, there should be no pressure internally, the fluid just circulates.
Just a thought.

I don't know that anything has been re-plumbed. It all looks original. Where is the relief valve? It may be stuck open. How do I check the pump to see if it is pumping ok?

Do you use the hydraulics? If so, does it seem to have enough pressure? If the relief valve was stuck open, you wouldn"t have any pressure and things wouldn"t work.
To check the pump, I just got a pressure gauge rated for 3000 psi., and hooked it up to the appropriate hydraulic coupling. This tells me if it is developing enough pressure, but tells nothing about the flow rate. There are fancier ways to check the hyd system, but I don"t think that will help your problem. (By the way, I THINK the pressure on the 450 hydraulics should be about 1250psi..... ...give or take)
What about the pumps? Were they rebuilt? Often a seal will leak when the bushing or bearing gets sloppy and that works on the seal.
