Woo hoo...Found an F-12!

Found an F-12 that's been out in the weeds for a looooong time. It's complete, stuck, cracked block, etc., but I got a good deal on it. Can't wait to get it home... I've been wanting to find and restore an F-12 for a long time. I kinda like to find the ones that most sane people wouldn't mess with and bring 'em back to life.

Speaking of basket cases, here is my 1950 Farmall C. I don't have the most recent photos of the progress on it yet, though. Coming soon...

Man oh man! The pictures of the tractor you are restoring are just incredible. Congratulations on your work and talent and everything.

In paticular the hoist must be something to move on the grass. I had one and had to do it by myself most of the time. Know what can be involved.

Please let us see pictures when you get the first one finished. I am working on a 1944 M that has been in the family a long time. Just at the end and am looking forward to playing with it.

Thanks Charles. I was ultimately able to move everything back into the workshop, but at the time the photo was taken, there wasn't enough room in there, so I had to move operations outside temporarily. I have some updated photos that I will put on the website soon and post them shortly thereafter. Good luck with the M. Post some pictures when you are done. I have been trying to talk my Dad into getting an M and restoring it.

With kind regards,

Tony

Darn, thats a little two far from me, I'm in Indiana. My grandpa's first tractor was an f-12. I would love to find one and bring it back to life. I can find f-20s around here bt the score but f-12s are a little harder to find. that have not already be restored. Saw one sell at an auction last week for 550 with a craked block and I still kick myself for not buying it.

I looked at one not to long ago but it had a bad set of cut offs and bad tires engine stuck and a few parts missing off it but was said that he had the parts. He wanted something like $500 or so for it but for what he had it was to rich for my blood

The one you describe sounds just like mine accept the only known missing part is the shield that covers the drive shaft. I got mine for... drum roll... $150. That's a fair deal considering it will take at least $2000 to bring back to life, not including all the joyful labor.

Been there, done that. Wouldn't have missed it for the world, wouldn't do it again for Love nor Money.

third party image

Paid $100 for a pair of good 38" rear tires and several hundred pounds of scrap metal.

18 months and $4500 later, I've got a 14-16 horsepower tractor with no 3 point, no electric start, no hydraulics and a blazing top speed of 3.5 MPH.

Whee.

Thanks. It's fun to play with, too. Just not awfully practical.

But then, some folks spend big bucks to run around in a fancy pasture knocking little white balls into holes in the ground too...";^)

I graduated from High School in St. Johns, Michigan. (1968, long, LONG time ago...) Who'd you buy the C from? Off chance I might know the name. You say you hauled it 120 miles? Where are you?

Yeah, I bet most people probably assumed I was going to sell the hulk for scrap! I worry about that every time I see rusty farm equipment on a trailer. I just hope they are on their way to being carefully restored!

I might just do that once I get it home and find out what's missing. I know for a fact that the drive shaft shield is missing. There is also some kind of vent tube missing just in front of the gas tank (its supposed to come up through a hole in the "hood"). There will probably be other parts that I will have to replace entirely

and I do still have that widget that sticks up through the hood just in front of the gas tank on some F12's. I think it's some sort of pressure regulator.

Lemme know if you're interested, I'll check back or you can email me at pfoxyATyahooDOTcom. Put "F12" in the subject line so I don't mistake it for junk mail.

Thanks for checking. I wrote down your e-mail and will contact you in a couple weeks (I'm going to be out of town) about that part.

With kind regards,

Tony
