I have several John Deeres and one 484 IH. I need to change the hyd. oil in the 484 and was wondering if I could run the JD. Hyd. oil in the 484? Is there that much difference in the two oils that would cause a problem in the 484. Thanks Bill

I have two modern deere's and 6 older Farmall's. I run Hygard in them all to prevent mixing oils when I switch implements. Been doing this for 20+ year's and never have had a hydraulic problem. Nearby Deere dealer sells it in bulk at a good price. I think mixing oils causes trouble not what brand you use.

Bill: I would use the Hy gard (am I getting that name right, memory is a bit rusty) before I would use Hy tran. John Deere has the best Hydraulic transmission oil, or at least they did, 20 years ago. Back then I had 1 Deere, 6 Farmalls and 2 Case. and Hy gard was all I used.
