It's leaking from the seal at the front of the transmission housing. I'm assuming that the bearing could also be due for replacement. Also, it seems there's excessive whinning noise from the tranny in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.

Could all of these things be related ?

How big of a job is it to replace this bearing and seal ?

Are there other things that should be replaced when tearing into it this far ?

Thanks in advance.

You need to split the tractor at the front of the transmission/back end of torque tube to replace the transmission input seal. It took my brother and I less than two hours to split my C, replace the seal, and get it back together again. You will need to pull the deck off the top of the transmission to access the gears/bearings. As usual, it is very important to keep safety in mind. Besure to block and brace everything. The rearend pretty much balances on a floor jack under the transmission. The front-end needs to be supported by a set of splitting stands or a cherry-picker and blocks, etc. If the front is securely blocked the rear end will roll back with the floor jack. Remember. Safety! Safety! Safety!
